This free webinar is for all who have arrived at a place of stuckness on a novel.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. The sad thing is that writers often give up at this point. You don't mean to give up. You just find you've left your heroine in the Bogs of Blart for a very long time.

In this 90-minute webinar, you will discover five reasons novels get stuck, diagnose which one applies to you, and make a plan for getting back on track.

You'll also learn about Labyrinth, an academy for writers, and receive a special discount code you can use to sign up.

  8. As writers, we need the support of a community listening and responding deeply to our writing.

The Visionary Level includes Spotlight group coaching for your work, our all-day retreat, "The Art of the Finish", two classes, "Writing the Hidden Story" and "Making a Scene," plus membership in KMEWC, our online writing forum.

    • Eight Spotlight group coaching sessions, (Limited enrollment)
In Spotlight you can read and receive feedback on your work, or you can use your turn to brainstorm, solve a plot problem, or puzzle out a character conundrum.
Tuesdays, September 22-November 17 (no Spotlight on November 3)
    • Writing Day Retreat: “The Art of the Finish” so that you can plan your finale and sprint to The End.
How do you find your final scene, so you can write toward it, regardless of where you are in your project? Uncovering this scene and what it means can save you from years of rabbit trails—even if the scene changes by the time you get there.

An all-day intensive, so that you can give your writing the time it deserves, our virtual retreat is not completely virtual. When you mindfully walk through the physical world, you open creative doors you cannot access sitting in a chair. That’s why you’ll venture outside to complete “missions” for your book.

After our interactive workshop, we break for lunch around 1:00, then return to spend significant time writing, followed by sharing and feedback.

      Saturday,  November 7, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM (PST)
    • Class: “Writing the Hidden Story”
Your characters live and breathe because of a hidden story—one you must go deep within to find. A work of fiction (or creative nonfiction) that is disconnected from you is nothing more than a clever word exercise. Mine your own hero’s journey so that you can discover the story you didn’t know you were writing.
      Four two-hour sessions. Wednesdays, September 23-October 14 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM (PST)
    • Class: “Making a Scene”
Now that you know your hidden story, unveil the secrets of attention-grabbing scenes and dialog. Learn how to “cut the boring bits” by writing tight, connecting each scene element to the thematic core. We’ll also use the elements to indulge in some literary silliness.
      (Four two-hour sessions) Wednesdays, October 21-November 11 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM (PST)
    • Membership in Katherine’s Most Excellent Writing Community forum, so you have companions and accountability on the journey.
    $549.00
  9. Ah, the victory of writing "the end!" Especially an ending firmly grounded in the hidden heart of your story.

Mondays, 4:30-6:30 PM, PT, September 21-November 9, 8 sessions Via Zoom

    (Class size 4-6 students)

This class is for a select group of writers ages 12-17 with a high level of dedication to their craft. Focus will be on creating a work of fiction, memoir, or poetry. This may be a short work; it may be the start of a book. We will approach our work as professionals, with a view to what is publishable. While publication is not in the scope of this first class, subsequent classes may include submission to publishers or writing contests.

Sessions will focus on plot, character development, and writing effective scenes. Focus points on grammar, punctuation and usage essential to good writing will be embedded in the instruction (e.g. proper use of tense, how semicolons can strengthen your work, active vs passive, etc.) Class includes lecture, activities and time to share your work. Each week you will submit 750 words for written review by Katherine.

    Application Process:

The ideal candidate for this class is a student who loves writing for its own sake—not just to please someone else. This course is for writers; you needn’t have perfect spelling or grammar, but you need to write for your own enjoyment.

A maximum of six teen writers will be selected, after submission of 750 words of fiction, personal essay or poetry.

Prospective students should submit their writing sample, double-spaced, to author (at) KatherineGraceBond (dot) com. When spots are filled, no more applications will be accepted.

    $499.00
